REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH
A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR DAVIDSON Dear Friends,
Greetings In The Name of Christ!
As I write this the snow is still on the ground and we are anxiously waiting the coming spring. Winter usually signifies a time of hibernation or death. The fruits of the earth have been harvested months ago and God's plants are at rest. However, when springtime bursts onto the scene, so does nature and life! The days grow longer the daylight is more prevalent, the temperatures warm up, and there is usually a bounce in our step as we feel more alive in the spring.
The same holds true for the Church. We anxiously look forward to a day in April when God brought life to mankind. April 4th is the day in which the Church will celebrate Easter, the day in which Jesus Christ rose from the grave to give life to all who believe in Him. The Church looks forward to the celebration of life that God gives in Christ this Easter. Actually, that is why we worship on Sundays, to remind us of the new life God gave on that first Easter Sunday.
Please accept my heartfelt invitation to you and your family to join us on Easter Sunday. We will have two services, a Sunrise Service at 7:30 a.m. and a Festival Service at 10:15 a.m. in the morning. Sandwiched in between is an Easter Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Come and celebrate the new life God has given us in Christ this Easter!
May God continue to bless you and yours!
In Christ Service and Yours, Pastor Jack Davidson
A MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR Dear Families,
Because of God's great love for us, He surrounds us with the incredible beauty of creation. In creation He shows us many different examples of the way he works in our lives. In spring, we experience the beauty of new life, growth, maturity, death, resurrection and rebirth. We see this in the cycle of seasons as we watch seeds grow into flowers and as caterpillars becomes butterflies. Another example is in our personal lives, new babies, life along the way and death, the cycle of our lives. In the same way God works in each of our lives as He calls us to faith in Jesus and transforms our hearts and lives in His Spirit. Celebrate God's gifts of new life with your child and praise God for His great love!
How great is the love the Father has lavised on us, that we should be called a child of God" 1 John 3:1
In God's Peace; Mrs. Daubenmire School Administrator (740) 653-9727

GENERAL INFORMATION PARKING In regard to parking lot concerns and your child’s safety, we would like to ask the following things of you: parents bringing their children to Pre-School should park out front in the Church parking lot. 1. Please do not “stand” where the bus turn around is-leave this open for buses. 2. Younger siblings can not be left in the car as you run your child into the school building. 3. Cars should not be left running during your time inside while picking up your child. 4. We have an adult exchange policy, only adults and authorized people are allowed to pick up your child. Parents bringing children to Child Care should use the left side parking lot entrance. Please be aware that we have Child Care children who are arriving or leaving each day by bus to and from different schools. Our parking lot allows room for the buses to maneuver around the lot to the front door of the Church, please do not block or stand in the bus turn around. This turn around is also used for deliveries. When arriving or dismissing, all the children should be with their parents (hands held if need be) walking through the Church Narthex and out into the parking lot. We have had some close calls in the past of children getting hit by a car or bus because of “running ahead of” Mom / Dad or babysitter. All children have to be supervised please! Thank you for your anticipated understanding and assistance in keeping everyone safe!
NEWSLETTER/ HANDBOOK This informational newsletter is the first (one a month) as a “whole” School and Child care combined newsletter. Each individual teacher will hand out their own “classroom newsletters” that pertain to more specific information regarding your child’s individual class session. Recently you received a “Parent Handbook” that covers all policies, procedures, and practices for Redeemer Lutheran Church, School and Child Care. Please read this handbook thoroughly as some of our licensing rules have changed from the past. It has been put together for all parents and is very informative for all programs that we offer here at Redeemer. Remember to turn in the back page of the handbook which states that you have reviewed the handbook. Your child’s teacher can collect these signature pages.
REPORTING TO SCHOOL We request that if your child is absent that you call in and let us know of illnesses, vacation days etc. If you are enrolled in the Child Care program, you will be charged for your scheduled day’s regardless of attendance. When calling in for reasons of sickness, please let us know if your child is contagious with any kind of communicable diseases such as chicken pox, strep throat etc.. so that we can take precautionary measures. Please refer to the “Parent Handbook” in the back, for the Communicable Disease section. Communicable Disease posters are located in the school hallways. TUITION PAYMENTS / CHILD CARE FEE’S According to your payment schedules that coincide with the program your child is enrolled in, all fees or payments are due the first of every month for Pre-School. See your payment schedule sheet given out at orientation. Stop by the School Office if you did not receive one. See the “Parent Handbook” for late charges after the 10th of every month. You are not billed for Pre-School, but you are billed for Child Care one week after the service is rendered. For parents with children enrolled in the Child Care Program, please make sure you have returned your payment option sheet to the office choosing either weekly, bi-weekly or monthly payments. A tuition box is located outside the Administrator’s Office if you are making a payment after 3:00 p.m. Otherwise, you may hand your payment to the School Administrator or School Secretary, or you can pay by mail also. Be sure to place your child’s name in the memo section of your child and also the program to which you are paying. (ie; $128.00 to Child Care / $95.00 to Pre-School)
ENHANCING LITERACY Help your child become a reader, set 15 minutes aside every night to read to your child. Read with them in a way that actively involves them. Be sure they see you read. HELP YOUR CHILD DEVELOP STUDY SKILLS AT HOME. * Speak with your child on recognizing the alphabet. * Read ABC books - as you read, encourage the child to name the letters. * Encourage the child to recognize the letter in his/her name. * When the child is ready encourage him/her to attempt to copy his/her name. * Encourage and reinforce skills learned at home and school.
COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL Use your offering envelope attached to this newsletter to give a gift to Luis through Chapel at Redeemer. Our mission service project this year, is a continued mission to sponsor a “Compassion International” child through our Early Childhood Programs at Redeemer throughout this 2009/2010 school year. The child we chose to sponsor is “Luis Rafael Guanotasig Curicho”. He was born April 28,1999 in the country of Ecuador. Luis lives with his parents and 2 siblings, working by gathering firewood. He likes to play ball games, play with cars and he likes to play hide-and-seek. Luis is in 4th grade and is an average student. God can use you to help a child. As a Compassion sponsor, you can become a special friend to an impoverished child living in a developing country. You’ll be personally linked with a boy or girl who will know your name, write you and treasure the thought that you care. Your monetary Chapel offering each month helps provide life-changing benefits such as educational opportunities, help with homework, encouragement, a loving and safe place to play, and better health and supplemental food if necessary. “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves...defend the rights of the poor and needy.” -Proverbs 31: 8-9
MAKING HEALTHY LUNCHES FOR THE CHILD CARE CHILDREN When packing your child’s lunch it is very important to remember the “Food Pyramid”. Please keep in mind that we do not have enough refrigeration space for your child’s lunch. Some suggested ideas that work well are: insulated lunch boxes, thermos’ and ice packs to keep things cold and hot. Of the 5 food groups you are required to cover 3 out of the 5 when packing your child’s lunch. We provide the milk for you. If you do not cover 3 out of 5, a notice will go home to you letting you know what we supplemented your child’s lunch with. There will be a fee per item if supplementing becomes a daily or weekly occurrence. Snacks are to be provided by parents of Pre-Schoolers, please remember to prepare a healthy morning or afternoon snack for all children in your child’s class taking into consideration any allergies to food items. We provide white milk only with snacks each day. See your child’s teacher for more specified snack requirements. Redeemer provides healthy childcare snacks at approximately 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for those children enrolled in the Child Care Program.
REDEEMER’S FALL FESTIVAL On Saturday, September 19th from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. you and your family are invited to come to Redeemer’s “Fall Festival” which will be under tents in the front parking lot. There will be carnival games, a moon bounce house, retail / craft booths, hayrides, live bands, and of course food and fun-fun-fun. Come and enjoy a day of family, fellowship and fun!
PRAYER During our classroom sessions each morning with the children at devotion (religion) time, our staff is trained to pray for any prayer concerns you might have. Please write down or discuss a prayer concern with our child and we would be happy to pray for your needs. “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” -Philippians 4:13
