The Redeemer Lutheran Preschool exists for the primary purpose of leading children to the divine shepherd, Jesus Christ, their Savior. “Let the little children come to Me and forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14. By leading children to know, trust and believe in Jesus Christ as their loving Savior, we help guide them to happier, richer life on earth and to the eternal joy of heaven. We strive to help the children know what God expects of them as believers and to learn to conduct themselves in a way that is pleasing to God. In this way, the development of a child’s positive self-concept is developed, nurtured and established.
It is now believed that ˝ of one’s total development occurs during the Preschool and Kindergarten years. It is therefore important for each child to have a rich, stimulating, and hands-on environment in these formative years, with many opportunities to develop in areas of physical, emotional, social, and spiritual growth matched to their developmental level. The task of Christian teachers at Redeemer is to help our children attain maximum development so that they will be able to build on positive early experiences and contribute their God given abilities to better serve their Lord and society at large.
Learning is fun in our bright colorful rooms and on the playground and wooded area which surrounds us. The preschool classrooms are equipped with many play items, learning materials and activities that are developmentally appropriate for children ages 3 through 5. The Preschool is licensed through the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, recognizing the academic state standards of the Ohio Department of Education for Preschool. In the Preschool classrooms the teachers follow a Religion curriculum called Voyages, which teaches a different Bible story and verse each week. Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science are addressed as well in various forms. Music, Art and Large Motor development are part of the child’s learning environment each week also. The Pastor invites the children into the church for Chapel services too. The Fairfield County Library delivers books to each classroom and at Redeemer we feel it is of the utmost importance to read to and model reading to the children as often as possible. All school programs are held in the church sanctuary and the Davidson Fellowship Hall is used in inclement weather and for special events.
